Creative Profile – Moréna McDonald
Bringing people together is at the heart of everything Moréna does.
Back in 2014, she helped Etsy launch a series of markets across Canada called Etsy: Made in Canada. Featuring Etsy sellers from across Chatham-Kent, the event was held outside of the Downtown Chatham Centre annually until 2019.
In 2017, she helped create the Dresden Night Market with a group of friends. Quickly, the event became a popular experience for guests near and far to enjoy. Today, the Dresden Night Market happens twice each year and brings together artists, small businesses, community groups, and volunteers together. It’s all organized by the same group of friends who created it 7 years ago, and is 100% a volunteer effort. In 2023, the Dresden Night Market was named one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario! It’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
The Dresden Summer Night Market returns to downtown Dresden on Saturday, July 27 from 4:00 – 11:00 p.m.

Recently, she is involved with helping small businesses through LUVLOCAL. On www.luvlocal.co, customers can shop from small businesses on the platform 24/7 and have their order delivered right to their door. In addition to being on the platform, small businesses are continuously supported by LUVLOCAL with marketing, product photography, logo design, packaging, and more.
In May of this year, Moréna was appointed to Chatham-Kent council to fill a vacancy created when Steve Pinsonneault won provincial byelection. She hopes to bring a unique perspective and we look forward to the positive impact that she will have in our community.
