Featured Profile – Wallacaeburg & District Council for the Arts
Welcome September! This month we’re featuring the Wallaceburg & District Council For The Arts. Head to their website to learn more about how the W.D.C.A supports the arts and for a range of events and initiatives coming up in your community!
The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts was formulated in 1980. The WDCA has a rich history supporting and stimulating the Arts in Wallaceburg and surrounding area.
Throughout the years we have been able to bring many performing arts events to the community that included drama, dance and music. Varied audiences entertained included school groups, adult and children’s series. Performers like Moe Koffman, Emm Gryner, Quartette, The Maori Dancers, The Windsor Symphony, Valdy, Ralph Murphy and Sharon, Lois and Bram are just a few who have adorned our stages.
Moving through limited abilities due to Covid, we are now very excited to be back at the helm. In the past year we can boast of hosting many successful events at a number of venues throughout Wallaceburg. We are most appreciative to the many businesses and halls that have opened their doors for us to host. James Street Eatery, Black Goose Grill, Legion Branch 18, Glasstown Brewery, Wallaceburg Museum and the Jeanne Gordon Hall have all been more than welcoming.
September 2024 brings another busy month for the WDCA. Coming off our summer Tuesday evening Music in the Park series that featured great musicians, participation in WAMBO and two Juried Art Shows, youth and adult, we will now focus our energies on our monthly showcase of artists at the Museum Art Gallery, Arts Awareness Night, September 13, 2024 at Troy Brooks Studio and the Blues and Books, September 19 at Legion Branch 18.
