For April, we want to recognize the efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent and the importance of service in our community.
The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is a service club dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. Some of their local service projects include the Kiwanis Music Festival, Reading Buddies in the schools, tree planting in local areas used by children and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which provides books to young children from birth to age 5. One of their fundraising activities is to offer day trips to theatre in southwestern Ontario, including the Stratford Festival Theatre, Huron County Playhouse in Grand Bend and the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia. Each trip includes coach transportation, premium seating and a delicious meal with a great group of people who enjoy the arts and culture on a day-away adventure.
“We are very fortunate to have a growing number of members (we are just over 50 members), with a diverse range of age. Why is the diversity in age important? This provides our club with the sustainability for programs for years to come as the knowledge/experience is transferred to newer members each year. Further, many of our newer members are seeking leadership experience to strategically build their resumes, so our Club offers the opportunity to lead committees and projects, participate on our Board, and build new networking relationships. Our more seasoned members provide informal mentorship and sage advice from successful Club projects in the past. We are grateful for these relationships.“
The 77th Annual Kiwanis Music Festival runs from April 11 – 17 with the Grand Concert on Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. where top performers are featured and awards presented. Community Members are invited to attend all performances and will be in awe of the quality of musical and performing arts talent in Chatham-Kent.
Looking for a nice day-away adventure? Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent has three trips planned for the year as a fundraiser as they continue to Serve the Children of the World.
